Slavery no longer plays a part in Ghanaian society. Polygamy is legal but generally only practiced by wealthy and powerful men.
The unemployment rate is around 11 percent. Houses generally consist of connected one-story rooms around a central courtyard.
Ghana maintains a rich oral tradition of story telling. Traditional arts include wood carving.
Celebrate a harvest festival, called homowo, during which they eat a mashed corn and palm oil.
